A gripping and poetic drama following a fighter pilot who finds herself grounded at the height of her military career by an unexpected pregnancy. Returning back to work, she is transferred to drone operator duty and struggles to separate remote warfare from real life. Written in 2012, GROUNDED vividly illustrates the complexities we face on a daily basis linked to technological advances.

GROUNDED will star Letty Thomas in the lead role of the Pilot. Letty graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London in 2017. Since then, she has had a wide experience in theatre, television and film. Letty is known for The Crown (2016), Soulmates (2020) and Bridgerton (2020), as well as the 2020 feature film, Emma. Her theatre credits include work in several London theatres, including at the Royal Court, The Old Vic, Finborough Theatre and Almeida.

The production will be directed by Emma Howlett, a talented young director based in London. Howlett will be supported by set and costume designer Ellie Wintour, lighting designer Ed Saunders, and Sound Designer Sarah Spencer.

The mission of The Bridge Theatre is to connect the people of Brussels via the experience of culture. Therefore, as with all its productions, the intention behind producing and showcasing GROUNDED is to shine a light on a specific socially-relevant topic, in this case the impact of technology on our relationship with work. In order to make the link between what happens on stage and our everyday lives, several performances also feature post-show talks exploring the play’s themes from different angles.

Afin de faire le lien entre ce qui se passe sur scène et notre quotidien, plusieurs représentations seront suivies d’un bord de scène pour explorer les thèmes de la pièce sous différents angles.

De hoofdrol wordt gespeeld door Letty Thomas die in 2017 afstudeerde aan de Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in Londen. Nadien heeft ze een ruime ervaring opgedaan in theater, televisie en film.
