Protecting Women from Violence in Europe

Special focus: Cyberviolence

Objective

Women are facing human rights abuses in Europe. With the rise of new technologies and the influence of social media, cyberviolence is a growing threat which disproportionately targets women and girls.

This seminar explores the different ways in which the legal systems in Europe, including the Council of Europe and the EU, protect women from those threats. To this end, the seminar reviews the current  legislative framework as well as the latest judicial decisions. In addition, the seminar discusses the protection of women against  new forms of violence, such as cyberviolence.
