Functioning and rehabilitation of European mountain peatlands

The seminar, organised by LIFE Climate Jura peatlands will take place from 15 to 17 May 2024 in Bois-d'Amont, France.

This event, organised by LIFE Climate Jura peatlands, aims to share knowledge and experiences on the challenges and opportunities of restoring and conserving mountain peatlands in Central Europe. These ecosystems are vital for biodiversity, water regulation, and carbon storage, but they are threatened by human activities and climate change.   The seminar will address questions such as how to assess the state and function of peatlands, what are the best practices and techniques for restoration, and what are the expected outcomes and impacts of intervention.   The full programme of the event is available here.  About LIFE Climate Jura peatlands: LIFE Climate Jura peatlands aims to restore the water balance of the peatlands in the Jura region of France, which have been damaged by human activities and emit greenhouse gases (GHGs.) A group of 5 organisations is working on 70 sites to improve hydrological conditions of these ecosystems.
