Judith Schallnau joined the World Intellectual Property Organization's Arbitration and Mediation Center in 2008. She administers arbitration and mediation cases under the WIPO Rules, develops specific dispute resolution schemes and provides related legal advice. She speaks regularly about WIPO arbitration and mediation at international conferences. Prior to joining WIPO she worked at the German Aerospace Center in the areas of intellectual property, technology transfer and EU law. In this context she was responsible for drafting and negotiating a recommendation on the management of intellectual property in knowledge transfer activities for universities and research organizations proposed by the German Research Ministry during the German EU Council Presidency 2007. Prior to this she worked in a law firm in the area of telecommunication law.
Ms. Schallnau studied law at the Humboldt-University, Berlin and the Catholic University, Leuven, Belgium. She holds an LL.M. in European law from the College of Europe in Bruges, and specialized as German attorney in intellectual property law. Judith Schallnau is a certified mediator and has extensive experience in international arbitration.
