FramingNano Multi-Stakeholder Workshop

A dialogue on the Regulation and Governance of Nanotechnologies

The FramingNano Project Consortium is pleased to announce that an important multi-stakeholderWorkshop on the future regulation and governance of Nanotechnologies will take place in Brussels onThursday 26 February 2009 from 09h00 to 17h00.The aim of this Workshop will be to facilitate an open dialogue amongst active stakeholders on the keyissues and factors that should shape a future governance framework for the regulation ofnanotechnology across a wide range of industry sectors.Following keynote presentations on key environmental, health and safety (EHS) issues, key ethical,legal and social issues (ELSI), and industry needs by top-level experts, there will be three interactiveworkshop sessions addressing EHS, ELSI and possible governance models. Attendees will be encouragedto provide input and contributions concerning their positions and views on the future governance ofnanotechnology. These contributions will form an important step in further refining the FramingNanoconsultation process and developing a future nanotechnology governance proposal to the EuropeanCommission that fully reflects the positions of key stakeholders.All nanotechnology stakeholders with an active interest in the shaping of future nanotechnologygovernance and regulation are strongly encouraged to attend this Workshop.Attendance at the Workshop is free.
