The SOLIDAR Silver Rose Awards were launched in 2000 to celebrate individuals and organisations whose extraordinary struggles contribute to social justice and solidarity in Europe and throughout the world. Previous award winners include Morgan Tsvangirai, former opposition leader in Zimbabwe; Tarja Halonen, President of Finland; Aminatou Haidar, Western Sahara; and Réseau Education Sans Frontières, France.
