Until now, integration policy is mainly regarded as national policy. However, since the development of an EU migration policy, integration issues have gained importance at European level. Thereby, an interaction between the increasing attention to integration in European instruments and trends into national policies can be observed. In this context, a general trend emerges which leads to the establishment of a tight link between the level of integration of migrants and their legal status. The Conference organised by the Odysseus Network, the Centre "Migration Asile Multicultularisme" (Université Libre de Bruxelles) and the Centre for Migration Law (Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen) addresses within three specific sessions this question: "EU Integration Policy", "Mandatory Integration Schemes" and "Social effects of integration requirements"
