International Gas Conference Bridging the Gas Gap

International conference on European Union Gas Diversification

The international conference Bridging the Gas Gap on European Union gas diversification will be held on 20th October in Brussels.Bridging the Gas Gap aims to explore in detail the process of diversifying gas supplies to Europe by highlighting the various projects under the Southern Gas Corridor initiative. Diversification of the energy supplies over the last 20 years has been constantly on the increase. With the EU rethinking its energy strategy and going strongly in favor of renewable energy, natural gas will have a significant role in balancing the variable renewable energy fed into the grid. Moreover, the uncertainty surrounding nuclear power and the robust economic growth in the non-OECD countries set the scene for a greater role of natural gas in the global energy mix. This event is designed to:Develop effective platform for in-depth discussions on the EU energy policy towards security and diversification of the gas supply for Member States;Elaborate on the aims of the EU member states to reduce vulnerability to supply disruptions;Search for state-of-the-art technological solutions in building pipeline facilities in environmentally friendly way;Alleviate social concerns about single supplier market dominance and risks of higher energy prices.
