The Conference aims to encourage and develop diverse understanding concerning the social category of gender and its relationship to visual representation. We hope to showcase the best work in the area occurring across the United Kingdom, and internationally, as well as to stimulate debate within and between disciplines. We welcome the submission of empirical and theoretical papers from across the full spectrum of gender studies as well as those which critically engage and reflect upon research paradigms and methods. We would particularly welcome papers that seek to address ‘real world’ issues, and in so doing, encourage and contribute toward broader feminist activism.Keynote speakers:Feona Attwood (Sheffield Hallam University, UK)Adrienne Evans (Coventry University, UK)The full conference programme will be available in summer 2012Registration and the call for papers are now open (see event website for more details).
