The picture of Hepatitis B and C care varies considerably across Europe: France and Scotland have a dedicated national plan to address viral hepatitis. Other countries have started this process but there are still inequalities in the level of care and treatment patients receive across Europe. The Euro Hepatitis Index will highlight these discrepancies and shortcomings of viral hepatitis policy in Europe and will help identify cost-effective best practices that will improve the lives of patients.The Euro Hepatitis Index is a tool to empower patients and physicians to promote comprehensive national plans in the field of Hepatitis B and C across the European Union and in Norway, Croatia and Switzerland.The launch event features high-level speakers (MEPs Marina Yannakoudakis and Dr Milan Cabrnoch, Desislava Dimitrova, Deputy Minister for Health, Bulgaria; Dr Hande Harmanci, WHO). It is organised by the European Liver Patients Association (ELPA), with the support by the Cypriot Presidency of the EU.It will be an opportunity to discuss best practices with leading experts in the field and to hear their responses to the findings of the Index and to formulate a collective response to viral hepatitis across Europe.
