Alcohol-related harm costs Europe around €155bn each year. It damages people’s health, relationships and careers. It is time to take action. This event will explore how EU policies can continue to tackle alcohol-related harm and will see the launch of the “Conclusions of the EU Roundtable on an Integrated Approach to Alcohol Related Harm”, jointly endorsed by the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), the European Liver Patients Association (ELPA), the European Mutual-Help Network for Alcohol-related Problems (EMNA), the European Federation of Associations of Families of People with Mental Illness (EUFAMI), Eurocare, Alcohol Concern and Lundbeck. The Conclusions outline what an integrated approach to reducing alcohol related harm should encompass, and recommend a number of concrete areas for policy action, including measures from prevention to treatment. During the event, EU officials, and interested stakeholders are invited to discuss these conclusions, as well as the need for the renewal of the EU Alcohol Strategy.
