The Digital World in 2030: Europe's place in the technology race

EIF Dinner Debate

This dinner debate will focus on ‘Europe's place in the technology race’ under the main theme of EIF’s foresight project ‘The Digital World in 2030: What Place for Europe?’.  As many voice concerns that Europe is falling behind in the area of ICT, and maybe losing the leadership in mobile communications that it has enjoyed for decades, our speakers will elaborate on where Europe stands in the ongoing technology race. They will do so in light of current trends and future expectations in the digital domain and from a global perspective. EIF members and friends are invited to contribute to a lively debate.  Peter Linton, EIF Advisor and principal author of the ‘Digital World in 2025’, together with EIF collaborator Ajit Jaokar, is writing the ‘Digital World in 2030’ report based on output from EIF debates. Based on the previous report ‘The Digital World in 2025 - Indicators for European Action’ (2009), the 2030 report will be presented at an EIF launch event on the 18 March in Brussels.PROGRAMME:Welcome and introduction:Malcolm Harbour, MEP and EIF GovernorSpeakers:Patrik Regårdh, Head of Strategic Marketing, EricssonCafer Tosun, Senior Vice President Strategic Research and Innovation at SAPCraig Burchell, Vice President External Relations Europe, SamsungLord Erroll, Chairman of the Digital Policy Alliance (UK)tbcExchange of views with participants
