Food and Packaging Innovation - Designing for a Sustainable Future

Delivered in collaboration with Emagine Packaging Ltd.

Design and innovation for sustainability is becoming increasingly essential in product and packaging development, particularly for branded fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG). Increasingly, brands recognise that this evolving agenda is not just a function of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) but makes sound business sense. In many ways, the focus that this brings is resulting in a step-change in some of the key thought processes in the innovation lifecycle; for example, placing consumers at the heart of the innovation process. The responsibility for understanding and implementing this is increasingly delegated to those involved in the management of innovation and new product/packaging development. Food and Packaging Innovation – Designing for a Sustainable Future, is a two-day course designed to provide the background, strategic and practical insights that will assist, inspire and motivate you in implementing a sustainable innovation lifecycle for food product and packaging development. It is the result of a collaboration between Leatherhead Food Research and Emagine Packaging Ltd., a packaging innovation and design company with sustainability as a core brand value. Throughout the two days, contemporary examples and experiences will be shared to give you a better understanding of the importance of sustainability. You will also be provided with the knowledge and tools you need so that you can return to your daily setting with an enhanced tool box of skills and thought processes, enabling the design and development of a packaged product in a more sustainable manner. This is underpinned by a ‘design for circularity’ philosophy.
