Food Supplements REgulatory Seminar (EU & International)

This two-day interactive seminar provides a comprehensive overview of current European and International legislation on food supplements covering a number of different countries, including an insight into upcoming regulatory changes.

Food supplements can be regulated very uniquely in different countries, even within the EU. As companies need to comply with the individual legislation for each of the countries they export to, it can often be a challenge to get to grips with the regulatory framework, as well as stay abreast of the latest developments in food supplement legislation. Leatherhead’s new Food Supplements Regulatory Seminar will help you navigate this regulatory maze. If you are a new exporter, Food Supplements Regulatory Seminar will provide you with an overview of food legislation in the EU, US, and other major International markets, helping you to understand the legal requirements of selling dietary supplements in these countries. If you are a more seasoned exporter, it will help refresh your knowledge of the regulations, as well as provide an insight into the latest legislative developments and upcoming changes in the countries covered. Key to complying with EU legislation is the Food Information to Consumers legislation, which will come into force in December 2014 across all 28 EU member states. By attending the seminar, you will come away with a complete understanding of the labelling provisions related to food supplements, as well as additional food supplement specific labelling requirements. Our uniquely experienced presenters will also identify key requirements that are country specific.  The seminar will provide an opportunity to focus on novel food implications and consideration will be given to borderline situations whereby a supplement may be considered to be a medicine and also to the significance of traditional herbal medicinal products.  Also important is the ability to calculate nutrient tolerances to ensure that products exported to the EU fall within accepted levels. Often difficult to calculate, we will help simplify the calculation methods using easy-to-follow examples. On the international front, Leatherhead Food Research’s regulatory experts will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the different general and nutrition labelling requirements in each of the countries covered, enabling you to comply with the legislation as well as help your customers make informed choices. There will be interactive workshops throughout the seminar, including an opportunity to check a supplement label against a compliance checklist. The ever-developing situation relating to nutrition and health claims will be considered in detail and there will be an opportunity to discuss specific points that delegates may have.
