WHERE LAW AND ECONOMICS MEET

Conference on the Economics of State Aid Control

Economics is taking on a more and more prominent role in State aid control. The recent State aid modernisation has also introduced several noticable changes in this regard. As the interest in the economics of State aid is steadily increasing among academics, practitioners and public officials, we are pleased to bring these crossdisciplinary groups together during the upcoming Conference on the Economics of State Aid Control: Where Law and Economics Meet.During the morning sessions, we will discuss the role of economics in State aid control, especially in light of the recent modernisation of the rules. In the afternoon, we will dive into the common principles, such as incentive effect and evaluation of State aid measures, and discuss in detail specific aid objectives: energy aid and regional aid. In order to get the interdisciplinary perspective of the issues discussed, economics presentations will be followed by discussants from the legal field. Herewith we try to close the communication gap that sometimes exist between economics and law.
