How to make Open Innovation happen in Horizon 2020?

Opportunities, Technical Guidance and Strategic Advice regarding Open Innovation Work Programmes

Horizon 2020 spans seven years (2014-2020) and is the biggest EU Research and Innovation Funding Programme ever. The Horizon 2020 Specific Programme is implemented through two-year work programmes setting out funding opportunities under the different parts through calls for proposals containing topics. The Horizon 2020 Programme strongly supports the three strategic priorities of Open Innovation, Open Science and being Open to the World.The current programme 2016/2017 is focused on Open Innovation. In particular Open Innovation 2.0 (OI2) that  is a new paradigm based on a Quadruple Helix Model, where government, industry, academia and civil participants work together to co-create the future and drive structural changes far beyond the scope of what any one organisation or person could do alone.The seminar will be focused on the currentHorizon 2020 work programme2016/2017 presenting:The thematic sections describing the overall objectives, the respective calls for proposals, and the topics within each callSpecific comparative European and international case studies on the concept of Open Innovation, in particular presenting successful and approved projects showing how to combine diverse sources of knowledge to innovate, underpinned by networked, multi-collaborative innovation systems and involving researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, users, governments and civil societyThe general annexes describing general rules such as standard admissibility conditions and eligibility criteria, types of action, selection and award criteria, etc.The project management skills (the new EC Project Management 2 manual) requested by the European Commission needed for writing the application and to manage the project.Participants will receive a step-by-step guide through the entire processes from proposal preparation and submission to reporting session. The seminar will enable participants to share ideas, identify useful inputs, find partners for future projects to be supported by Horizon 2020 and find possible synergies with the European Structural and Investment Funds.Target group: This seminar is designed for public officials, universities, private bodies and SMEs who are interested in the implementation of projects funded by the EU Research and Innovation Programme Horizon 2020
