Due to current demographic trends, there will be more than 16 million fewer working-age people in Europe by 2030, even including steady immigration.
Attracting an international labour workforce in the medium and long-term is therefore a crucial strategic challenge for the European Union.
At the same time, Africa's population is expected to double to 2 billion people in the next 35 years, increasing irregular migratory pressure on Europe's shores.
This conference will tackle questions on whether the European economy really benefits from and depends on migration to keep it healthy, and will present ideas on how to make conclusions more visible and consequential on the migration policy the EU is pursuing.
The conference is organised by Uphold Europe in collaboration with the World Solidarity Forum.
