The Symposium is co-organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and MAPA (Ministero de Agricoltura, Pesca y Alimentación of Spain), in collaboration with the Global Framework on Water Scarcity in Agriculture (WASAG).
In a changing climate, the event builds momentum with a gathering of international leaders, financing institutions, policy-makers, researchers and the private sector. The objectives of the Symposium is to analyse state-of-the-art knowledge as well as future technologies for nonconventional water resources use, including issues related to regional policies, life cycle and economic assessment of water, nutrient recycling, and energy technologies. Ultimately, the Symposium will provide guidance for maximizing the safe use of nonconventional water in agriculture to achieve food security in water scarce regions.
