What does the lifting of the Solar Cap mean for the German solar sector?

In the last decade, Germany has been in the front seat of the European solar transition, thanks to a positive legislative framework supporting solar deployment.

In the last decade, Germany has been in the front seat of the European solar transition, thanks to a positive legislative framework supporting solar deployment. However, the 52 GW cap for solar feed-in tariffs, as set out in the EEG law, is on course to be reached in 2020. This has caused strong impacts on investment decisions for end customers as well as on installers’ current ; Against this background, the recent announcement of a government agreement on lifting the solar cap has put an end to several months’ uncertainty about the future of this provision. Markus Hoehner, Founder and CEO of EuPD Research, will present what the effects of the looming solar cap have been, illustrating economic impacts, investment constraints and the consequences on employment, and will provide some insights on what the new government agreement means for the German market.
