The Future of EEAGs in times of the EU Green Deal: continuity or disruption?

This event will present the findings of a new CERRE research project on “State Aid Guidelines for Environmental Protection and Energy (EEAG): review process, possible changes and opportunities”.

The review of the State Aid Guidelines for Environmental Protection and Energy (EEAG) has begun, but doubts have been raised as to its scope and the way in which the European Commission will conduct this process. Yet, these are an extremely important tool for the EU energy transition towards a decarbonised energy system while guaranteeing security of supply.

As the Commission’s fitness check for the Guidelines is underway and stakeholders are in critical need for a precise understanding of the process, scope and consequences of the review, this event will present the findings of a new CERRE research project on “State Aid Guidelines for Environmental Protection and Energy (EEAG): review process, possible changes and opportunities”.

This study examines the EEAG review process and scope, focusing on possible areas of change. It considers the evolution of existing technologies and the proliferation of new actors shaping the landscape of a decentralised and complex energy systems. It also studies the impact of the recently adopted Clean Energy Package and the intended ‘flexibility’ projected in the EU Green Deal.

Join key actors from the energy sectors including industry players as well as regulatory authorities, government agencies, policy-makers and representatives from the EU institutions and academic experts to debate the findings of this new research project.
