Shifting the energy debate forward: innovations in the Social Sciences and Humanities for Green Deal delivery

How can SSH contribute to better future European energy policymaking in the context of the upcoming HorizonEurope programme?

In 2019 the EU committed to becoming the first climate-neutral continent by 2050, withthe European Commission presenting its European Green Deal as a roadmap for gettingthere. The transition is set to have profound impacts on the lives of Europeans and theirfamilies, from the ways people heat their homes and move around, to the jobs of thosewho work in manufacturing and services sectors, as well as raising wider societal issuessuch as democratisation in energy /> This conference will underline how crucial social knowledge is to delivering the transitionto climate-neutrality, importantly including when it comes to public participation andensuring socially just outcomes. It will also present concrete recommendations on how toadvance and better design future European energy policies in the context of theupcoming research and innovation framework: Horizon Europe. Humanities and socialsciences can add indispensable (but often overlooked) perspectives to policymaking in acomplex, turbulent and inherently uncertain /> Join us for this conference taking place on Tuesday 19 January 2021, – CET
