The course places emphasis in understanding the concept of Sensory Sensitivity, its applications and the implications in case of co-morbidities.
More specifically, through three distinct study units, the course provides a thorough knowledge of the senses and their functions with the aim to improve the sensory understanding and the application of multi-sensory learning within a classroom. Moreover, the course aims to increase competence in the overall effort of educators to identify tools and strategies for enhancing learning.
This masterclass course has a dedicated study unit on the application of sensory understanding, which consists of nine distinct topics ranging from widely known senses, such as visual, auditory, to less known though important senses, such as proprioception, kina-aesthetic and interoception, among others.
Finally, the course provides in depth knowledge and understanding of ‘specific sensory conditions and co-morbidity’, with detailed reference to the development of co-ordination syndrome, the sensory processing and the auditory processing disorder, among others.
Empowering Teachers to realise the full potential of students with Sensory Sensitivities (SPDST) is a masterclass course on Sensory Difficulties and an indispensable tool for all teachers who wish not only to understand the concept of Sensory Difficulties but to create an educational environment that will allow the potential & skills of students with Sensory Difficulties to be fully developed.
All presentations in this course are both visual and audio. The course is being developed by highly experienced tutors with vast expertise in the area of Special Educational Needs (SEN).
