On Monday 20 September, the Centre on Regulation in Europe (CERRE) will host a public event to launch and debate its latest Energy & Climate report “Revision of the Renewable Energy Directive (REDII): How to improve tendering, planning and tracking rules to deliver the European Green Deal?”
In July 2021, the European Commission published its so-called ‘Fit for 55’ package, including a proposed revision of the Renewable Energy Directive (known as REDII since its recent recast).
CERRE’s latest report, based on a thorough legal and regulatory analysis, addresses three aspects that the revision should cover in order to achieve higher renewable energy targets under REDII: renewable energy support schemes and tendering procedures; coordinated planning and integration of energy systems; and rules for the tracking and valorisation of renewable energy, specifically Guarantees of Origin (GOs).
