Putting a spotlight on geographic atrophy: Launch of policy recommendations

How to tackle a chronic eye disease affecting five million people worldwide

Join policymakers, healthcare professionals, and patient representatives from Italy, France, Spain and Germany on 29th November to discuss the unmet needs of patients living with geographic atrophy (GA), and tangible policies that can be implemented to address them.

Geographic atrophy is the advanced stage of dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a retinal disease characterized by progressive and irreversible vision loss. With currently no approved treatments available, it is the most significant unmet medical need in ophthalmology. Although this disease affects 5 million patients worldwide, the public is still largely unaware of GA and of its burden not only on patients and their support network, but also on healthcare systems and societies if left unaddressed.

During the event we will hear from the experts who informed the recommendations and who will provide insights into the necessity of policy support. Healthcare professionals, patient representatives and policymakers will get together to share their experiences from the medical and policy perspectives. This will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A, in which audience participants will be able to ask questions to all our panellists.

We hope you will be able to join this event!
