Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence

Supply chain governance or bureaucratisation?

Objective

The new proposal on the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D), which aims to cover the entire value chain introduces a comprehensive corporate due diligence system to prevent or mitigate human rights abuses and environmental damage. It is currently under intense discussion in and outside the trilogue process.

Key issues include

  • Scope of the proposed Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D)
  • Early experiences from countries with existing supply chain liability
  • Level of harmonisation
  • Financial institutions – in or out?
  • Reporting and climate transition plan
  • Liability and sanctions
  • The way forward
