On 21 September, we invite you to be part of the #MakeEUBlue: From Source to Shores campaign, organized by the EU4Ocean Coalition, as we tackle plastic pollution and raise awareness about the deep interconnectedness of all water bodies—from rivers and lakes to the vast ocean that unite us.

Every drop of water eventually makes its way to the ocean. When we think about pollution, we often picture plastic floating on the ocean’s surface, but the reality is much more complex. All smaller bodies of water—rivers, lakes, canals—act as veins that lead directly to the ocean, carrying with them everything we leave behind. The campaign name "From Source to Shores" reminds us that the ocean's health begins far from its shores.

But there’s more to the story: The real source of pollution starts with us. As humans, we are the "source at the source." Our actions and choices impact our waterways, and it's up to each of us to prevent litter from ever reaching the ocean. By participating in this cleanup, you're not just picking up trash; you're helping to rewrite the story of our ocean's future.
