ABOUT YOUR CHAPTER SUBMISSION

We seek CHAPTER PROPOSALS demonstrating compassionate pedagogy’s transformative role in university education. Share your insights on how compassionate approaches have been, are being, or can be utilised to enhance social justice, student well-being, and inclusive learning environments.

The Importance of Compassionate Pedagogy in Contemporary Higher Education

Compassionate pedagogy involves applying principles of mental well-being and empathy to enhance the educational experience for all students and staff, particularly those historically marginalised. This approach fosters human connection, communication, and well-being, making it a central aspect of higher education.

POSSIBLE TOPICS

We encourage CHAPTER PROPOSALS that explore various aspects of compassionate pedagogy, including but not limited to:
– Compassionate assessment and feedback systems
– Compassionate approaches in curriculum design and content delivery
– Compassionate support for academic research and learning
– Compassionate strategies for fostering inclusive and diverse learning environments
– Compassionate teacher training and professional development
– Ethical considerations in compassionate pedagogy
– Strategies for enhancing student wellbeing and mental health
– Compassionate communication and interaction in educational settings

Your CHAPTER PROPOSAL should reflect your unique experiences and perspectives on using compassionate pedagogy to enhance social justice, student well-being, and engagement in Higher Education.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Submit a 4–5-page CHAPTER PROPOSAL, adhering to the SUBMISSION GUIDELINES available here on our website.

Please ensure your CHAPTER PROPOSAL is well-informed, practically applicable, and theoretically grounded.

DEADLINE

The deadline for submission of your CHAPTER PROPOSAL is November 18, 2024.

REVIEW PROCESS

Our triple-blind review process will focus on the clarity and relevance of your compassionate pedagogy application in enhancing social justice, student wellbeing, and learning, the compelling nature of your methodology, theoretical grounding, and alignment with effective pedagogical strategies.

Reviewers will refer to the following questions when reviewing your CHAPTER PROPOSAL:
1. Does the chapter demonstrate a clear case of using compassionate pedagogy to enhance social justice, student and staff well-being, and learning in higher education?
– Writing tip: Describe how your integration or application of compassionate pedagogy enhanced social justice, student wellbeing, and learning. Follow academic conventions and be concise. Your case should inspire faculty members in higher education to consider using compassionate pedagogy to enhance these />2. Is the implementation methodology compelling and concise?
– Writing tip: Describe your methodology so compellingly and concisely that readers can envision how to adopt a similar approach in their institutional />3. Is the chapter informed by relevant learning or compassion theories?
– Writing tip: Make sure your case of using compassionate pedagogy to enhance students’ learning outcomes is informed and reflected within the framework of a learning theory, such as critical compassionate pedagogy, as proposed by Hao (2011).
4. Is the chapter rooted in appropriate pedagogical strategies?
– Writing tip: Root your case of using compassionate pedagogy in enhancing students’ learning outcomes in relevant pedagogical strategies, such as inclusive teaching, problem-based learning, and empathetic communication.

ACCEPTED CHAPTER PROPOSALS

Suppose the review board accepts your CHAPTER PROPOSAL. In that case, you can register for the symposium and, in time for the symposium seminar itself, submit your completed chapter for inclusion in the book for worldwide publication.
