Mr Jacques De Baenst

Expert in Protocol and Diplomacy

Ambassador Jacques de Baenst is a former Chief of Protocol of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a former Chief of Protocol of the European Commission (1998-2010). He entered the Belgian diplomatic service in 1971. He was successively assigned to Zaire, the former Czechoslovakia, the OECD (Paris), the United States (Consul general), the Netherlands and acted as Head of the EC monitoring mission in the former Yugoslavia.  Jacques de Baenst is a 2002 laureate of the IV International Prize on Protocol and he has been awarded numerous high Belgian and foreign decorations.
