Prof. em. Dr. Michael-Burkhard Piorkowsky is Professor of Household and Consumption Economics at the University of Bonn. He holds Diplomas in Economics and in Business Administration and a Ph.D. in Economics at the Free University of Berlin. His research interests are on structures and functions of private households, micro-macro-interrelations, and socio-economic hybrids, e.g. household-firm-complex, self-help-group. A research focus is put on household management, e.g. finance, poverty and coping strategies, ecologically sound behaviour, and entrepreneurship, esp. business start-up.
