Mr Marcos Ros Sempere

MEP, Founder and coordinator of the New European Bauhaus Friendship Group

Environment,

He loves looking at life with the eyes of an architect, because where others see what there is, some of us are always projecting and imagining better places. A desire to transform his environment, his city, and especially the society in which he lives, are his goals. Always with the aim of achieving a fairer world, with full equality of opportunities, and a more pleasant and sustainable natural and urban environment. Politics, teaching, research and urban planning are his tools. He studied architect at the higher technical school of architecture of Madrid, UPM, from 1992 to 2000. He obtained the degree of doctor from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2005.

His work experience began practicing the profession of architect until 2011, combining it with other jobs: architect-director (2001-2006) of the office of management for housing and rehabilitation of Cartagena, dependent on the Carm, and director architect (2006-2015 ) of the facade plan of the historic complex of Cartagena.

His activity at the UPCT began in 2008 as an associate professor at the higher technical school of architecture and building, and in 2011 he became a contracted doctor professor. Since then, he has directed the R + D + i group "urban research laboratory", whose research work is fundamentally oriented to the analysis and diagnosis of the urban situation of the municipalities of the region (Murcia, Mula, Fuente Alamo, Lorca ... Among others).

Within his academic activity, in 2014 he did a teaching and research stay for six months at the University of the Republic, in Montevideo, Uruguay. Since April 2016 he held the position of vice - rector for campus and sustainability of the UPCT until 2019, the year in which he is part of the PSOE list for the European elections. Regarding his political activity, he has been a member of the PSRM-PSOE since February 2000.

Since February 1, 2020, he has been a member of the European Parliament, occupying one of the seats assigned to Spain after the United Kingdom left the European Union. He is a full member of the education, culture and sports commission, and of the legal affairs commission. He is also an alternate member of the committee on employment and social affairs. He is part of the delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China, and he is a member of the urban environment intergroup.

At present, his main lines of political work are the commitment to a more just and sustainable territorial, municipal and urban structuring; the demand for urban mobility policies; the investigation for the knowledge and protection of the traditional gardens of the region, and especially of the Huerta de Murcia; and the fight for the enhancement of our immense cultural heritage.
