Thomas Fröhlich has a chemical engineering background and received his PhD for research in the field of heterogeneous catalysis and reaction engineering. He joined the Institute of Energy and Environmental Research (ifeu) in 2012 and is currently holding the position of a senior project manager leading a team of five scientists. Thomas’ main working field is the assessment of environmental impacts (LCA) in the area between the extraction of natural resources (both fossil and renewable) and the production of fuels and plastics, including the whole petrochemical and chemical sector. He is responsible for the regularly updated PlasticsEurope Eco-profiles of major plastics (PP, PP, PVC, PET) and commodities (e.g. chlorine, ethylene, propylene, aromatics).
