The object of the European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences is to promote cooperation in Europe between those non-profit-making scientific and technical societies and professional institutions in the field of chemistry whose membership consists largely of individual qualified chemists/chemical scientists and whose interests include the science and/or practice of chemistry/ chemical sciences. It was founded in 1970 and currently has 50 member societies in 36 countries.
FEAD is the European Waste Management Association that represents the private waste management and resource industry across Europe. FEAD members are national waste management associations covering 20 EU and EFTA countries. They represent about 3,000 companies with activities in all forms of waste management. FEAD companies have an approximate 60% share in the household waste market and handle more than 75% of industrial and commercial waste in Europe. Their combined annual turnover is approximately € 75 billion. These companies employ over 320,000 people who operate around 2,400 recycling and sorting centres, 1,100 composting sites, 260 waste-to-energy plants and 900 controlled landfills.
The Institute of Geomatics (IG) was founded in 1997 as a public consortium, with own legal entity, composed of the Generalitat de Catalunya (local government of Catalonia) and the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). Its mission is the development of geomatics through applied research and education in support of society, institutional and industry needs both at national and international levels.
OTTI (Ostbyerisches Technologie-Transfer-Institut e. V.) is a non-profit organisation founded in 1977. Its aim is the stimulation of the industrial economy and the support of the co-operation between science and industry. OTTI has a 30-person strong team who proffer seminars, specialist forums and conferences. About 5000 specialists and managerial personnel from business, administration and science take part every year.
MARE is an interdisciplinary social-science institute studying the use and management of marine resources. Its objective is to provide a stimulating intellectual climate for academics and policymakers in Europe as well as in the South. Although MARE limits its action radius to the social sciences, it seeks active collaboration with other disciplines. It strives to maintain a balanced mix of academic and policy-oriented research. MARE takes a global perspective.
AElDL was founded in 1988, in the form of a not-for-profit organisation. Its General Assembly is made up of local development stakeholders and specialists from various sectors of the civil society and European Member States. AEIDL’s objectives focus on contributing to a united, citizen-oriented Europe, based on sustainable development and equal opportunities, by offering an extensive range of services to local development and civil society actors, along with various institutions.
CEMBUREAU, based in Brussels, is the representative organisation of the cement industry in Europe. Today CEMBUREAU includes 28 Members (27 Full Members and 1 Associate Member). Currently, its Full Members are the national cement industry associations and cement companies of the European Union (with the exception of Cyprus, Malta and Slovakia) plus Norway, Switzerland and Turkey. Croatia is an Associate Member of CEMBUREAU.
Over 60 years, we have been unstinting advocates of European integration through our international and interdisciplinary study programmes.The Centre international de formation européenne - CIFE - is a private institution of higher education and research, founded in 1954 with its head office in Nice and branch offices in Berlin, Bruxelles and Istanbul. It receives special funding in the framework of the Jean Monnet Programme of the European Union. Every year, students from all continents and a great variety of countries enroll in its programmes, which lead to a degree at Master level (EQF 7) recognised by the French state.
Friends of Europe provides an open forum for debate among EU and national policymakers, NGOs, business leaders, the media and civil society. More than a traditional think-tank, Friends of Europe aims to stimulate debate beyond the Brussels elite by linking up with major think-tanks and media from across Europe's national capitals.Friends of Europe organises a range of different events in varying formats, according to the issues under discussion.
