The European Debate Initiative is a youth-led debating platform, which was created to foster discussions between professionals and young people on European and global affairs. Policy-makers and experts from various professional fields and countries are invited to share their experience with young people and give them the opportunity to learn from them, be inspired and to think of concrete solutions. With these debates, we promote European and global values of democracy and human rights, and hope to provide answers to some of the biggest challenges we face ; Our aim is to give young people the opportunity to get a glimpse of what it is like to be a judge, a journalist, a diplomat, a politician, an activist or an expert in a particular field. We ask our guests to share their personal stories about their careers, which advice they would give to young people, and to share their knowledge and perspectives on today’s world. At the same time, we want to raise awareness about topics we consider crucial for young Europeans to ;

The social activities will also be aimed at extra-regional territories with the aim of making known and disseminating the speleological activity of the Mediterranean countries, taking into consideration Speleology in all its different cultural and technical expressions, which have manifested themselves over time in a large territory. and complex as the Mediterranean basin is. The Association also intends to avail itself of the collaboration of professionals and researchers from the various disciplines involved, without neglecting the interdisciplinary nature that speleological research requires, such as: archeology and paleontology for the wealth of finds that the caves preserve and guard, the anthropology and the history of art for the historical and artistic interest expressed by the artificial cavities, as well as by the rock settlements that so characterize and unite Mediterranean cultures, underwater speleology for the presence of coastal caves that can only be explored thanks to this complex discipline, biospeleology for the richness and environmental importance of underground biodiversity and last, but not least, the geology and study of the territory for the protection of karst and karst aquifers which are the precious water reserves of our territories, too often irresponsibly vandalized by disorderly anthropization. TETIDE APS wants to promote Mediterranean Speleologies, in which speleological exploration and dissemination become communities of study, of intent, of cultures and of approaches unique to the world.

This high level of knowledge transfer is achieved through both competitive research projects and direct contracted research. Therefore, public and private entities have access to a pool of knowledge, resources and services provided through the unique competencies available at the institution. As an Associate Laboratory since 2004, INESC-ID has an additional responsibility to assist public and private entities facing scientific, health, environmental, cultural, social, economic or political challenges, and to be an active participant in the process of defining the required policies, public or otherwise, to address those challenges. INESC-ID was evaluated in 2018, like all other Portuguese R&D units, by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT). FCT awarded the grade of Excellent, the highest, not only in the overall classification but also in each and every one of the items under evaluation: quality, merit, relevance and internationalization of the R&D activities; merit of the team; appropriateness of objectives, strategy, plan of activities and organization. INESC-ID was identified by FCT as one of the top 10 Portuguese research units attracting projects and funding from the European Union. INESC-ID has been very active in participating in R&D+i projects within European Union research projects. This participation has covered all relevant programmes and instruments in the areas within which INESC-ID has expertise, from the more fundamental research to the applied one and encompassing training and strategic initiatives.
