In the field of public procurement are the most common and frequent irregularities in applying European funding legislation. When such irregularities are identified, corrections have to be made which mostly result in the cancellation and withdrawal of non-admissible parts of funding. This European Seminar deals with the requirements set by EU structural funds regulations and European law in relation to public procurement. The main focus will be on above threshold public contracts and remedies, including European Court of Justice case law. Participants will acquire a comprehensive understanding of:• Procedures of public procurement• Criteria for selection• Awarding contracts• Cancellation of contracts• Accountability and control of public procurement There will be case studies on the model of joint procurement and of how environmental factors can be an incentive for public procurement. They will benefit from expert experience and advice on major practical problem areas and on common mistakes in public procurement practice und thus avoid pitfalls which would lead to a loss of funding.
