Fostering EU-Chile ICT policy dialogue

The FORESTA project organises an international policy conference to enhance EU-Latin American cooperation on ICT.

After more than one year of activities dedicated to analysis, studies and high-level meetings with research and policy stakeholders to assess the state-of-the-art of EU-Latin American dialogue on ICT, the FORESTA project has embarked on the next phase of its plan to foster bi-regional research cooperation: the organisation of the FORESTA ICT policy conferences as well as of a pioneering concertation meeting with the representatives of the national funding agencies throughout the region. The international conference “ICT Challenges for Innovation”, to be held the 7th -8th of June, 2011, in Santiago de Chile under the organisation of the Chilean partner Universidad Tecnólogica Metropolitana, will kick off the series. The event will be immediately followed on the 9th of June by the conference in Buenos Aires organised by the Argentinean partner Universidad de Palermo. The conference will boast an international panel of Latin American and European key players of the industry, academia and government involved in S&T cooperation, which will be able to provide expert inputs and insights into the challenges and opportunities of a coordinated strategy for EU-LA  R+D+i. The panellists include officers of the European Commission and of the European delegation in Chile as well as high-level ministry representatives in charge of the country scientific and technological agenda. Besides, success stories of EU-funded cooperative research will be brought to the attention of the public, thanks to the participation of researchers from European technological centres that will showcase the results of their projects. With a view to strengthen collaboration as an immediate result of the conferences, practical working groups are also planned based on the mutual technological priorities. A roundtable debating the roadmap for EU-Chile cooperation and the strategies to strengthen bilateral cooperation in R+D +i in ICT will close the intense 2-day work
