An international panel of Latin American and European key players of government, academia, industry involved in S&T cooperation will meet to debate over the challenges and opportunities of a coordinated strategy for EU-LA R+D+i. This pioneering workshop able to bring government representatives and research funding agencies throughout the region, from Chile to Mexico, for the first time together, represents a milestone of the FORESTA project, an FP7 Support Action aiming to advance the research cooperation in the ICT field with the Latin-American countries that have established S&T agreements with EU.The event follows a series of conferences held in 5 different Latin American countries to foster the policy dialogue on ICT with the EU, which have identified mutual interest areas and have produced recommendations for an enhanced collaborative framework.Attendees from the Latin American countries including Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina will share experiences and practices in order to facilitate the emergence of common positions and encourage the synchronization of support instruments to cooperation in ICT research with EU. The expected outcome will be an agreement over a joint work plan for future collaboration activities with the final aim to better harmonise European and Latin American research strategies.
