MAITRE media seminar will take place on the 17-18 April at the National Research Institute for Food and Nutrition (INRAN) to train food researchers in producing a good scientific piece of news!
The National Research Institute for Food and Nutrition (INRAN) is hosting MAITRE media training seminar “Engaging the audience with science” the 17th – 18th April 2012 in its premises in Rome, Italy.INRAN is a public research institute dedicated exclusively to food and nutrition; its main activities include research and consumer information and education. Therefore, INRAN is the perfect location to gather food researchers and nutrition scientists.During the seminar senior journalists and media experts will train a target group of selected researchers how to improve their communication ability to convey the importance of their research to the general public. Participants will experience thorough hands on practice from writing press releases to giving interviews and preparing statements; these are just several of the tasks scientists will learn how to master when interacting with the media. The EU funded project MAITRE - Media Actions for International Training of Researchers - aims to make the connection between researchers and journalists real and efficient. For this reason, MAITRE provides an online contact platform, which collects a contact list of high-level food researchers and science journalists from the European Union and Associated Countries, working in food and nutrition science.
