Many European funded projects are working on the challenging topic of e-ID and each one is devoting an enormous amount of effort and time to their own activities and focussing on achieving their goals. The SIIIC intention is to give to all projects the added value of sharing knowledge and results for collaboration and exchange of views with others in the same space, and working in a collaborative way for giving to the European Commission the best result. This conference provides each organisation or project with the opportunity to give an overview on their current activities and future plans; additionally a substantial amount of time will allocated to networking and collaboration, with space for practical workshops which can be arranged in an impromptu way or a more planned approach.SSEDIC – Scoping the Single European Digital Identity CommunityThe objective of this network is to provide a platform for all the stakeholders of eID (electronic identity) to work together and contribute to the agenda for a proposed Single European Digital Identity Community as envisaged by the Digital Agenda (DAE) in its Key Action 16This event will focus on the increasing challenges of managing multiple identities from multiple sources across multiple domains, in other words Federated Identity Management (FIdM), it amounts to working towards providing a common set of policies, practices and protocols to manage the identity and trust of users and devices across organizations and borders.FidM describes the technologies, standards and use-cases which serve to enable the portability of identity information across otherwise autonomous security domains. The ultimate goal of identity federation is to enable users of one domain to securely access data or systems of another domain seamlessly, and without the need for completely redundant user administration. Identity federation comes in many flavors, including "user-controlled" or "user-centric" scenarios, as well as enterprise controlled or B2B scenarios. Evolving FIdM challenges associated with cross-company, cross-domain and cross border issues has given rise to a new approach to FidM as one of today’s most important IT market segments.Discussion will focus on the question of which type of solutions provide the answer to what parts of the FIdM puzzle. As regulatory pressures become more demanding, as well as the ability to meet these demands we will be looking at the expected changes related to market growth and maturity and some of the newer technology sectors gaining momentum. However, the challenge today is to address these overarching issues in a cost effective way, delivering results in the areas that matter most to the Citizen, Enterprise and Administration.
