The Department for Food and Resource Economics at the University of Bonn, Germany, has been selected for hosting a professional media training for food and nutrition researchers on the 24th-25th of September 2012.
The University of Bonn will host a professional media training on the 24th - 25th September 2012 organised by MAITRE - Media Actions for the International Training of Researchers - a European project supported by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme, aiming to give food and nutrition research a higher profile in Europe, by providing professional media training for reseachers. The two-days seminar is open to all reserachers from the country and from the other local reserachers centres. The seminar will be held by senior professional journalists and will give the researchers hands-on experience and practical sessions on how to improve their communication ability to convey news and outcomes of their research to the general public. The seminar will give the researchers also the possibility to get into a network of other researchers and science journalists. The MAITRE project keeps on following the participants even after the seminar, giving them the possibility to access an online platform to build network and create a longstanding collaboration between researchers and science journalists in order to reduce the gap between science and media.
