MAITRE project will visit the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana to give food and nutrition research a higher profile in Europe, organising professional media trainings to better communicate their research.
The Univerisity of Ljubljana has been selected for hosting a professional media training for food and nutrition researchers on the 30th-31st of January 2013 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The University of Ljubljana is the largest and oldest in Slovenia with 23 faculties and three departments. With 63,000 students it is also one of the largest in Europe. The basic mission of the Biotechnical Faculty of the university is higher professional and postgraduate education and research. The seminar is organised by MAITRE - Media Actions for the International Training of Researchers - a European project supported by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme, aiming to give food and nutrition research a higher profile in Europe, by providing professional media training for reseachers. The seminar will be held by senior professional journalists and will give the researchers hands-on experience and practical sessions on how to improve their communication ability to convey news and outcomes of their research to the general public. The seminar will give the researchers also the possibility to get into a network of other researchers and science journalists.
