Our qualification courses teach both the practical skills and the theoretical knowledge necessary for civil conflict management work at home and abroad. Course participants are taught specialist and project-related skills, general project work competencies, as well as useful social and team-working skills. The curriculum is based on current developments in the fields of conflict transformation, development aid and adult education and also draws heavily on the practical experiences of highly qualified trainers and advisors.Successful participants qualify for the certification as “Peace and Conflict Consultant”. This qualification is an assurance that they are specially trained for project work in areas of conflict. In particular, the skills imparted in our qualification courses were chosen with the Civil Peace Service and other conflict-sensitive development aid projects in mind. So, depending on their prior experience, graduates are able to independently initiate, manage, monitor and develop projects, take on coordination roles beyond single projects, and/or work directly in the implementation of project activities. The 9-weeks course is a full-time residential course which we offer twice a year in English. It builds heavily on the participants’ existing knowledge and their experience from working in international projects in the fields of civil conflict management, development aid or related sectors. The 44 training days include thematically self-contained training courses (which are listed under “Trainings”) and group training units. The latter are specific to the 9-weeks course, which is open to a maximum of nine participants who stay together for the whole course. The training courses are open to other participants. Each course participant also benefits from an accompanying coaching program (4 units of 1 hour). Successful completion of the course leads to certification as a “Peace and Conflict Consultant”.
