Welcome to the 2nd International academic conference «Information, Communication, Society 2013» (ICS-2013)!Social Communication and Information Science Department (SCIS) of Lviv Polytechnic National University was founded on the 22nd of August 2011. However, department’s faculty and staff have already proven themselves to be an effective team of educators and researchers, able to solve a wide range of problems is the field of information activities using advanced technologies.Department’s scientific area is a symbiosis of the following topical research directions: business intelligence, social communication, documentation science, information management, e-government, applied psychology and linguistics, marketing of information products and services etc.Complex nature of the research and its relevance shape the need for scientific information exchange with representatives of domestic and international academic societies, establishing partnerships with other university departments, institutions, enterprises, authorities and NGOs. In this regard, we understand the importance of diverse academic events aimed at facilitating Ukrainian researchers integration into the international scientific community.ICS-2013 is intended to become one of these academic events. The conference will take place 16-19 May, 2013 at Lviv Polytechnic National University — one of the largest and the oldest technical university in Ukraine. Founded in 1844, today our alma mater combines more than one and a half century experience with the newest approaches to education and research.Second part of ICS-2013 will take place in Slavske — picturesque village in the Carpathian mountains (Skole Beskids) 130 km east of Lviv.We are looking forward to meeting you at Lviv Polytechnic National University!
