XIII International Krutyn Summer School 2013

Advanced photo- and electrically active molecular and nano-materials at the interface with living systems: challenges and promises for the future bio-medicine

GENERAL INFORMATION  & GOALThis XIII International Krutyn Summer School – "Advanced photo- and electrically active molecular and nano-materials at the interface with living systems: challenges and promises for  the future bio-medicine" - is organized by the University of Bari “Aldo Moro” Italy, Polish Supramolecular Chemistry Network Foundation, and the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland. The School is conceived as a high-level and highly intensive scientific event focusing on cutting-edge know-how on organic & hybrid materials for bio-medicine. This Summer School aims at the state-of-the-art training in the form of lectures and consulting sessions designed for Ph.D. students and young researchers seeking to reinforce their knowledge and skills in the exciting frontier field of molecular photonic/electronic materials and active nanostructures at the interfaces with biology and living systems, mainly for bio-medical applications (diagnosis, therapy, cells and tissues communications, staining, sensing and detection). Top experts from different scientific backgrounds in this interdisciplinary area will deliver lectures and consulting sessions. The school is intended both for people already active in this R&D field, as well as for those new to the field.SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMMETheoretical background- Basics for organic photo/electrically active organic and nanomaterials for biology- Basics for electrical and optical stimulations for cells and tissues- Nanomaterials for biologyAcademic research- Organic semiconductors and neurons- Organometallic complexes for in vivo assembly- Hybrid bio-organic structuresTechnological aspects- New diagnostics from luminescent materials- Artificial retina from organic semiconductors- Industrial interest in bio-electronics- Industrial and business perspectivesINVITED LECTURERSProf. Luisa De Cola, ISIS Strasbourg, FranceProf. Guglielmo Lanzani, Polytechnic of Milano, ItalyProf. Gianluca Farinola, Bari University, ItalyProf. Agneta Richter Dahlfors, Karolinska Institute Stockholm, SwedenProf. Roisin Owens, Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint Etienne, FranceProf. Adolfo Speghini, University of Verona, ItalyProf. Mireille Blanchard, Université Bordeaux 1 CNRS, FranceProf. Gonzalo Cosa, McGill University, CanadaProf. Muriel Hissler, Rennes 1 University, FranceProf. Barbara Ventura, ISOF-CNR, Bologna ItalyDr Eric Glowacki, Linz University, AustriaDEADLINES:single room, deadline for reservation: 5th February 2013registration: March 15thfee payment: March 30thposter A4/abstract: April 30th  presentations upload: May 10th
