Europe's rescue plan for honeybee colonies

From an EU-wide ban on pesticide use to a long-term strategy for bee health

The Institute for European Studies (IES) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) kindly invites you to a policy forum on “Europe’s rescue plan for honeybee colonies. From an EU-wide ban on pesticide use to a long-term strategy for bee health” on 27 September 2013.The policy forum aims to stimulate a lively discussion about Europe’s rescue plan for honeybee colonies and the long-term implications of the recently adopted legislation. What are the next steps of action? Will the two-year ban lead to a comprehensive long-term strategy to tackle the decline of Europe’s honeybee population? What future measures should be incorporated in this strategy? Will other countries, in particular the US, follow EU’s ban on bee-harming pesticides?
