Quantitative Single Cell Biology in Stem Cell Research

Quantitative Single Cell Biology in Stem Cell Research

Topics: - Single cell quantification - Stem cells - Imaging - Computational modellingMeeting description: Normal stem cell function underlies tissue regeneration and repair in health and disease. Therefore, molecular stem cell fate control is of both great scientific interest and clinical importance. However, despite decades of stem cell research, many of even the most basic questions remain disputed. One important reason is that stem cells are usually analyzed at the population level and only at individual time points. However, due to impurity, heterogeneity and dynamic behavior of stem and progenitor populations, quantification of cell properties both at the single cell level and continuously over time are crucial for an improved future understanding. While this requirement has now been widely recognized, the lack of adequate technology still prevents relevant experiments in most interested laboratories. The goal of this meeting is to bring together a group of experts who are using and developing different technologies for single cell quantification to discuss current possibilities and future requirements in this evolving field. Abstracts: Poster and oral abstracts are invited. Check meeting website for more details.Confirmed speakers: Check out the meeting website for a list of the confirmed speakers.
