MAITRE media training at the National Health Institute of Lisbon, Portugal
On November 6-7, MAITRE will be hosted at the National Health Institute of Lisbon, Portugal, to equip food researchers with the tools with which skilled media professionals address the public.
MAITRE project organises tailor-made media training seminar, which goes over the most important points researchers should be aware of when interacting with the media, thus facilitating their research communication.Conducted by a professional journalist, the seminar will provide practical and directly applicable advice for dealing with the media in general.Through hands-on sessions, the attendees will learn the concept of a press release, will practice training for short on-camera news announcements, and will rehearse interview situations, such as on camera, on radio, or in panel debates. As well as the training sessions themselves, MAITRE seminars also aim to foster debate, discussion and dialogue between the participating researchers and the journalists hosting the workshops.Funded by the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), the MAITRE project ultimately aims to contribute to the promotion of food research knowledge in Europe, by improving scientists’ ability to communicate to the media.
