Get creative in the development of future TV app conceptsTelevision is a half a trillion dollar global industry that is on the cusp of change as the Internet collides with traditional linear broadcast television. TV app stores on smart TVs; new innovations include Roku and Boxee that have open ecosystems; transmedia storytelling from producers that involves multiplatform engagement and much more... The TV Hackfest will be bringing together designers, developers, product managers, producers and the next generation of talent together over the duration of two days to get creative and build future TV app concepts.Building Innovation in Multiplatform TV Content Development. Why hack TV?Because there's half a trillion dollars up for grabs globally in TV ad spend and Pay TV revenue as the Internet starts to collide with traditional TV. According to Forbes.Print and Music were both disrupted by the Internet. TV is next. Opportunities abound as the current value chain is under threat with new gatekeepers in the living room (Samsung, Google, Apple, Boxee, Roku etc.) and new consumer behaviour with second screen engagement whilst watching TV.Because we can... now that TVs are getting Smart and Second Screen Social TV is moving into the ecosystem. All of us can agree on one thing - audiovisual entertainment via television has the most impact in delivering a brand message. It's the backbone of a multi-billion dollar a year global value chain and has been around for over half a century. But that's going to change.Media stacking (second screen engagement) becomes a norm rather than a niche behaviour.Ad-skipping is on the rise. The old model of distribution with broadcasters delivering mass audiences to brands and agencies is over due to audience fragmentation and more niche viewing and more content. The tasks can include things like:"…to develop a commercially viable video entertainment service (or app) that combines linear video, VoD (video on demand), social media, gaming, discovery and dissemination, personalization, new forms of advertising, community, tCommerce, multiplatform engagement and involves multiple screens, TVs, tablet PCs, PCs, games consoles, smartphones etc."The venue will be Moscone Center in the urban heart of San Francisco's downtown district on February 5-6, 2014. Entrants can come in as teams or also join up with others using our Linkedin Group.APIs and SDKs will be offered from technology com anies as well as content from production companies which will allow for competitors to create new "transmedia" experiences around Social TV, Playalong TV, Search and Discovery, Smart TV, Online Gaming and other Multiplatform and Multiscreen Engagement innovation. Follow us on:LinkedinTwitter.comFacebook
