Join the former UN Chief of Protocol for the MA level lecture at The International School of Protocol & Diplomacy!

This unit lectured by the former UN Chief of Protocol Mrs Alice Hecht presents how international organisations deal with cultural specificities in the practice of high-level protocol.  It uses the UN as a case study to demonstrate how this particular international organisation has approached multiculturalism and developed a common practice of protocol. It does this by discussing the workings and the values of the UN and then by illustrating how the UN has acted to establish procedures and rules of protocol that ensure that each culture is treated with respect and understanding in its day-to-day operations.Topics to be discussed:- UN Charter- What is the UN?- Order of Precedence- Why has there been a surge in international organisations?- Protocol at the United Nations- Role of Host Country- Role of Permanent Mission- Role of the UN Office of Protocol- The UN Manual of Protocol- Seating Arrangement- Social EventsThis lecture is included in our Master's Degree in Protocol & Soft Diplomacy Skills programme.
