One in three women in the planet will be raped or beaten in her lifetime. This is one billion women. In 2013, one billion people in 20 countries spoke up and dance to raise awareness on that burning issue in the places where women need justice.On 14 February 2014, the European Women’s Lobby plans to bring together an excited crowd in front of the Palais the Justice in Brussels to rise, dance and speak out about the urgent need for justice and support for women victims of violence. “Justice begins when we speak, release, and acknowledge the truth in solidarity and community. The ONE BILLION RISING FOR JUSTICE is an invitation to break free from confinement, obligation, shame, guilt, grief, pain, humiliation, rage, and bondage.” For this extraordinary Brussels event of the One Billion Rising Global Campaign, the EWL joins forces with its Belgian members, le Conseil des Femmes Francophones de Belgique (CFFB) and the Nederlandstalige Vrouwenraad (NVR).
