Mobility in the Mediterranean Region

Lecture Series on Migration in the Mediterranean

In order to address the long-term challenges posed by the recent migration crisis in North Africa, the EU has proposed to enhance cooperation with the Southern Mediterranean region through the establishment of a Dialogue for Migration, Mobility and Security followed by future Mobility Partnerships. Mobility has thus become a key feature in EU-Southern Mediterranean relations. However, is there such a thing as “Mediterranean mobility”? And to what extent is this approach suitable for managing common migration concerns on both side of the Mediterranean Sea?This lecture is the second lecture of the Lecture Series: "Migration in the Mediterranean" organised by the Institute for European Studies and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD). This lecture will be bilingual, French and English.
